My Story
The start of grade 12 was also the start of my fitness journey. I had just finished my last growth spurt, and was weighing in at a lean 145lbs at 5’10. Needless to say I was skinny. Really skinny. I had always been the short, small one out of all my friends so now that I had caught up in height I decided that the next thing I wanted to do was to be as big as them! So I started staying late after school and fooled around in the weight room, not really having a clue as to what I was supposed to be doing. After about a month I (kinda) figured out what I was doing. I trained 3 times a week and hit chest and triceps, back and biceps and shoulders and abs. By the time the end of grade 12 came around, my bench had gone from 75lbs to 135lbs, which I thought was good progress. I ended high school at around 155lbs.
After graduation, I went to university for a bachelor of science degree. I continued to eat big and train hard and I meet some great people at the gym there. After the first year, I decided that a general science degree just wasn’t for me so I took a year off from school to figure things out. I weighed about 170lbs and was still fairly lean. It was around that time that I met my girlfriend (fitness-sc.tumblr.com) and shortly after we started seeing each other I stopped going to the gym. Fast forward 8 months of dating aka 8 months of no gym, a very high calorie diet and too much fast food and voila I was sitting at a not so lean 192lbs! It was actually after I returned from a trip to Mexico and saw pictures of myself that I knew I had to change something. So I cut out fast food, lowered my caloric intake and started lifting again(no cardio) and within 5 months I was down to 175lbs at about 13% bf. At that point, I was happy with my leanness and decided to bulk. And so, here I am 6 months into my bulk and I’m weighing in at 184lbs at about 14%. Im gonna continue bulking to 190lbs then do a mini cut and then keep bulking until March 2013 at which time I’ll start cutting down for my first competition! I’m also back in school for a Bachelor of Kinesiology and enjoying eery minute of it!
